First, Find the diskette icon on the desktop. You may have to move or resize a window that might be covering up the diskette icon.(Remember, move a window by dragging it by its title bar, and resize a window by dragging the resize box).
Notice that when the disk window is open, the diskette icon is grey, or hollow. Don't worry, that's just to let you know its window is open. You can do anything with this icon that you could if its window was closed.
Second, drag the icon into the Trash.
Have no fear, dragging a diskette into the Trash simply ejects it and removes its icon from the desktop.
Warning: you can eject your disk by selecting its icon and choosing Eject from the File Menu. On most Maintoshes, this is not a good method
as it can cause confusion as to whether the diskette is in or not. Moving
the diskette to trash is the better way to eject it.
