CVS Instructions

  • CVS Reference (URI CS Dept.) <- ignore the first 75% or so about setting up cvs
  • CVS Instructions (For this class by Dave)
  • The link to Dave's instructions above will allow you to view the PDF version of the document. If prefer to view it as a Microsoft Word document or want to make sure you are looking at the most recent version, please navigate to the root of the spring2008 CVS repository and download the file.

In case anyone forgot, our stuff lies in the spring2008 repository and therefore can be checked out by ssh into london.cs.uri.edu if you are not already in the lab and then, once in your computer science accont use:

cvs checkout spring2008

If you are using a GUI for CVS the following information may be useful to set it up:

Access Method: SSH 2 (tested off campus)
CVS Root: /home/other/csc305/cvs
Module: spring2008

SFTP & WinSCP (Updated for ARC Project)

To transfer files between the dev site and your local machine it appears that you can use either SFTP (tested off campus) or WinSCP (tested off & on campus via Academic WiFi).

username: your cs dept. username
password: your cs dept password
directory: /homepage/courses/spring2008/csc305/ARC

This directory is the root for the arc project development site. To get to the dev site simply append /dev to the end of the directory path described above.

Rebuild Dev Site from CVS (Updated for ARC Project)

Dave has supplied us with the following script and instructions on how to make all changes to CVS and copy those changes to show up on the DEV site. Below are the instructions, copied from his email on how to make this work. Supposedly, it is as simple as the following:

Here is that promised command to update the “live” development site from CVS:

1) commit your work files into CVS
2) execute the following command on london using PuTTY or other ssh client:
/homepage/courses/spring2008/csc305/ARC/dev/cvs_update.sh

Disclaimer:

This page is not an attempt to replace any of the other class websites we have running, especially not the course webpage. It was created simply as a way so that a CSC305 team member can directly add important links and information in a single place where the entire team has access to it. Please refer to the course webpage and the csc305 listserv to keep up with important information.
