Connecting to the System:

• The PostgreSQL database resides on a Computer Science Department Linux system.

Running PostgreSQL:

• To start PostgreSQL you need to type:

  psql -h sql

   
  It will then prompt you for your password. This should be the same as for your linux account.


 
• A database has been created for each student in this class. The name of the database is the same as your username.

 
• To finish your PostgreSQL session use the command /q .

• Make sure that you are in the directory with appropriate rights for you.
