MEDFORD (MEtaData Format for Open Reef Data) is a lightweight markup language for describing research artifacts such as datasets, papers, and other resources. The design and development of MEDFORD (and the medford parser and editor support tools) is a collaborative effort with Tufts faculty members Prof. Alva Couch and Prof. Lenore Cowen and a number of students in the Tufts Bioinformatics and Computational Biology research group.

The primary publication for MEDFORD is in Database.
